December 18

"It's too cold outside for angels to fly"

Up until yesterday I kept denying Christmas. I kept convincing myself how I didn't need that huge vain commercial thing this year, but it didn't help me feel any better. I have to admit, I've never been more upset for Christmas - thousands of miles away from home, with no one I love the most in a country that doesn't even have Christmas. No, I thought this year I'd just skip the whole deal. No decorations, no hot chocolate, no Christmas music, no 'Love Actually', nothing. I don't want any reminders of how lonely I am. But yesterday... I opened the door of my room and there was a small package on the floor, with a note wishing 'Merry Christmas'. It had the cosiest fairy lights ever, they added up so much to the room!:) I have no idea who did this, but thank you, thank you so much. My room became Christmassy in 5 minutes and my mood switched from denial to fuck it, I'll have cosy little Christmas of my own. Who stops me from finding another lonely soul that isn't going home too? And making a Christmas dinner, and having all those things I'd usually have. Well, almost. But I can snuggle up in my bed with wool socks that my grandma knitted, my boyfriend's jumper, cocoa + marshmallows and 'The Holiday' on my laptop with a little video-call window in the corner of the screen. It's not gonna be the best Christmas ever, but hey, no need to be miserable, right?:)
